Driven By Employees, Supported by Abt
Abt Associates has a long tradition of involvement and support of the communities in which we live and do business. Our local engagement and giving is driven by our staff interests and connections through volunteering individually, as a group, and through corporate financial support.
Abt, for example, maintains long-term partnerships with organizations near its Bethesda, Md. and Cambridge, Mass. offices.
Abt employees in Bethesda in 2012 donated enough school backpacks, pens, scissors, and other supplies to Harmony Hills Elementary in Aspen Hill, Md. to help more than 100 children at the school. Harmony Hills, with whom Abt has had a relationship for nearly 20 years, teaches many kids from financially challenged families for whom English is a second language.
The Abt Cambridge office has a similar partnership with the Dimock Center in Boston, Mass., which provides a wide variety of health care to women who otherwise might not receive treatment.
Abt also:
- Supports walking teams to raise money for AIDS Action, which advocates for HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. Abt more than matched the money raised in 2012 by Abt’s team from the Cambridge office.
- Assists blood drives by offering office space and encouraging employees to participate. Cambridge employees in 2012 donated enough blood to the Red Cross during one drive to help 75 people in need.
- Matches staff contributions to Wounded Warriors and other organizations during the holidays and times of global need.
All of this is an extension of our mission — to help improve the lives and economic well-being of people worldwide — and is central to our culture.
