Abt Associates: Bold thinkers driving real-world impact
Abt Associates has a long tradition of supporting the communities in which we live and do business. Abt seeks to build both camaraderie among employees and relationships between staff and these communities.
“Our local engagement is driven by our employee interests and connections through volunteering individually, as a group, and through corporate financial support,” said Abt President and CEO Kathleen Flanagan. “This has involved blood drives, runs and walks for charitable causes, volunteering with and donating to schools, and other activities.”
Abt employees in Bethesda, for example, have tutored students at Harmony Hills Elementary – a school in Aspen Hill, Md. with many kids from financially challenged families for whom English is a second language. Bethesda staff also have helped with translation during parent-teacher conferences at the school and donated backpacks, pens, scissors, and other school supplies.
The Abt Cambridge office has a similar partnership with the Dimock Center in Boston, Mass., which provides a wide variety of health care to women who otherwise might not receive treatment.
