Carol Schechter Carol Schechter

Carol Schechter is vice president of health communication for the U.S. Health division at Abt Associates. An expert on social marketing and health communication, she has more than 30 years of experience creating innovative communication campaigns on such issues as health care access and quality, childhood obesity, HIV/AIDS, cancer prevention, immunization, and nutrition and exercise.

Before joining Abt Associates, Schechter served in various executive roles at the Academy for Educational Development in Washington, D.C.. From 2001 – 2011, she was vice president and director of the Center for Health Communication. While at AED, she also served as vice president and director of Domestic Health Services and directed the company’s HIV/STD/TB Communication and Technical Support Project. She has also provided consulting services to the National Cancer Institute and served under the Secretary of Health for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Schechter holds a bachelor’s degree is in rural sociology from Cornell University and two Master’s degrees from the University of Michigan— one in Economics and one in Public Health.
