Vice President, Data Science, Surveys, and Enabling Technologies
Ken Gaalswyk is a vice president for Data Science, Surveys and Enabling Technology at Abt Associates. He leads the International practice group, directing surveys and data-driven technology solutions in developing countries to drive decision-making and social impact. He also leads the Public Affairs practice group, directing public opinion polling and multimode surveys on social and religious issues.
Gaalswyk has 20 years of survey research and project management experience. He has directed general population surveys on social issues, current events, and religion for Pew Research Center, ABC News/Washington Post
, Public Policy Institute of California, and the Annenberg Public Policy Center; health surveys of low-incidence patient populations and physicians for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Department of Veterans Affairs, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, and Takeda; and surveys of stakeholders and key opinion leaders for U.S. agencies and commercial clients.
Gaalswyk has deep experience in international data collection, having directed more than 50 multi-country projects and surveyed more than 100 countries. He has been a principal investigator or project quality advisor on dozens of surveys at Abt.
Prior to joining Abt SRBI in 2010 - which now is part of Abt - Gaalswyk was a senior project director at Princeton Survey Research Associates International, where he directed surveys of the public, government leaders, and stakeholders.
He holds a B.A. in Politics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
