Michael Battaglia
Michael P. Battaglia is a renowned national expert in sample design and survey estimation methods.
Battaglia joined Abt Associates in 1979 and was promoted to Vice President in 1990. His responsibilities include the design of probability samples, implementation of sample designs, imputation methods, weighting procedures, nonresponse bias analysis, and estimation techniques.
Since 1990, he has presented more than 50 sampling, estimation and survey methods papers at the Joint Statistical Meetings, the American Association for Public Opinion Research Conference, the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System Conference, and other leading conferences. He has also been an author on papers appearing in Journal of Official Statistics, Public Opinion Quarterly, Public Health Reports, Statistics in Medicine, Journal of Official Statistics, Pediatrics, The American Journal of Preventive Medicine, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, American Journal of Epidemiology, and The American Journal of Public Health.
Battaglia and colleagues were awarded the 2011 Warren J. Mitofsky Innovators Award from the American Association of Public Opinion Research for developing a method of address–based sampling.
Battaglia holds a Master’s degree from the University of Michigan.
