Lessons from Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of the Congo & Liberia
Health systems strengthening (HSS) in fragile and conflict-affected states confronts the challenges of limited and destroyed capacity, residues of conflict and violence, weak government legitimacy, and often a flood of uncoordinated donor assistance. This session examines how interventions in Afghanistan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Liberia coped with these issues, and draws practical lessons from those experiences.
