Abt Associates: Bold thinkers driving real-world impact
Chris Kaweesa is an independent Ugandan businessman with an entrepreneurial streak. When he was offered free training in indoor residual spraying (IRS) by the USAID-funded Uganda IRS 2 Project, he jumped at the opportunity. Kaweesa runs Dag and Bragan Pest Control Services in Kampala, Uganda.
“Before the training we provided mosquito control, but now I’m offering my clients malaria control,” Kaweesa said. “IRS is a whole new ballgame.”
An indoor residual spraying project has trained 27 pest control companies on using effective and environmentally safe methods, equipment, and chemicals to control malaria-transmitting mosquitoes.
