Abt Wins $9.5 Million HUD Award to Help Communities, Non-Profits Effectively Use Federal Funds
BETHESDA, MD—The U.S.Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded Abt Associates $9.5 million to help communities and non-profit organizations across the nation more effectively use federal funds to produce affordable housing, revitalize neighborhoods and help prevent and reduce homelessness.
Under this award, Abt Associates will provide technical assistance and capacity–building support to HUD grantees under the OneCPD Integrated Practitioner Assistance System. The approach is designed to improve grantees’ management systems and ability to execute comprehensive and sustainable, place–based development and revitalization strategies.
In addition, Abt will continue its work to improve local homelessness data collection and reporting systems, called Homeless Management Information Systems, or HMIS. This project helps collect the information needed to understand the characteristics and use of services for the homeless at the local, state, and federal level.
