BETHESDA, MD — Abt Associates, which conducts research on complex issues ranging from homelessness among veterans to improving water quality, and implements programs to improve health and economic growth in developing countries worldwide, recently unveiled a new brand identity.
“Our new branding represents smart, creative thinking that is grounded in evidence and experience,” said Mary F. Maguire, senior vice president, Strategic Communications. “That’s what our clients value, along with the mix of disciplines and collaborative style that we bring to each project.”
The new, bright red and cool gray logo illustrates these attributes, she said, by taking the square shape of the previous logo and creating an “in-motion” geometric design with 16 “data-points” which form a circle. “This reflects both our global sensibility and keen understanding of the importance of data and diverse perspectives that is the foundation of our work.”
“Abt Associates, which was founded by Clark C. Abt in 1965, has prided itself in attracting people who deliver new data-driven insights to tough problems and who find innovative ways to deliver results in low-resource environments, Maguire explained. “Over the past 46 years, the company has grown substantially with offices in nearly 40 countries and more than 1900 employees.”
The new tagline, “Bold Thinkers Driving Real-World Impact,” reflects the ingenuity of the company’s staff, its achievements and aspirations, according to Maguire.
“Clark Abt infused a spirit of bold thinking from the company’s earliest days, and his legacy continues,” Maguire said. As illustration, she pointed out that in April, Abt Associates was named one of the top 40 international development innovators, and in May, the company was recognized for a survey research breakthrough to help researchers reach cellphone users. “Our founder’s vision is wholly ours as we continue our commitment to improve the quality of life and economic well-being of people worldwide.”
