Abt Associates: Bold thinkers driving real-world impact
Abt Associates’ flu vaccination surveys are helping the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) strategically address who isn’t getting flu vaccinations and why.
The most recent of Abt’s surveys – published in the CDC’s Sept. 28 Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report – gauged vaccination coverage for pregnant women and health care personnel for the winter of 2011-12. The CDC commissioned
these surveys to inform its planning of communications programs to encourage vaccination.
The 2009 H1N1 outbreak identified a gap in the CDC’s annual flu vaccination surveys: the agency lacked timely estimates for pregnant women, health care personnel, and other subgroups. Therefore the CDC commissioned surveys to fill this knowledge gap – work for which Abt bid and won.
