Abt Associates: Bold thinkers driving real-world impact
Three papers by Abt Associates were presented during the USAID Local Capacity Building Summit 2012, held in Washington, D.C. June 18-19. The papers describe Abt’s ProCap Index™, which measures the sustainability of non-profit organizations, and Abt’s work in Vietnam as part of USAID’s Avian and Pandemic Influenza Initiative.
The first paper describes Abt’s ProCap Index™, an innovative measurement tool developed under the USAID-funded Strengthening Health Outcomes through the Private Sector (SHOPS) project, implemented by Abt Associates. ProCap measures elements critical to organizational capacity and sustainability that traditionally have been viewed as difficult to track numerically. The paper was co-authored by Dawn Crosby, senior finance and contract manager in Abt’s International Health Division and SHOPS NGO strengthening advisor, and was presented during a June 18 morning breakout session.
