Abt Associates: Bold thinkers driving real-world impact
The architect of the U.S. government’s largest domestic and international HIV and AIDS programs spoke about the future of HIV and AIDS programs during an Abt Associates event marking World AIDS Day.
Achieving the United Nations’ HIV and AIDS goals of “Getting to Zero” deaths, new infections, and discrimination will require seizing on innovations that are potentially disruptive of received wisdom and well-entrenched programs, according to Dr. Joseph O’Neill – a key architect of the U.S. government’s largest domestic and international HIV and AIDS programs.
“The only constant thing [in HIV and AIDS] is change,” said O’Neill, speaking at a Dec. 3 World AIDS Day event at Abt Associates. “We must respond or risk failure.”
