Walker is also the 2012 winner of the Martha May Elliot award, which recognizes extraordinary leadership, advocacy, teaching and research in maternal and child health.
National Public Health Week, held the first full week of April each year, is sponsored by the American Public Health Association and brings together communities across the United States to recognize the contributions of public health.
