Abt Associates: Bold thinkers driving real-world impact
A poster illustrating the results of a study on affluent neighborhoods by Abt Associates Senior Analyst Claudia Solari was recognized with a Poster Award by the Population Association of America (PAA) at its 2014 Annual Meeting in Boston in early May.
Solari’s poster depicts the sensitivity of different measurements of neighborhood affluence, through a comparison of relative and absolute measures. She looks at the differing results of affluent neighborhood change and stability rates, chronic neighborhood states, and log-linear results predicting neighborhood stability. Solari also visually displays affluent, middle income, and poor neighborhoods according to the different measure of affluence over time using maps of New York created in ArcGIS, a Geographic Information System and spatial analysis software.
The PAA, hosted annually by the Population Council, attracts demographers, sociologists, economists, public health professionals, geographers and other individuals from across the world.
