Abt Associates: Bold thinkers driving real-world impact
The goal of the Massachusetts Universal Pre-Kindergarten Pilot Program is to provide universally accessible, quality early education and care for the Commonwealth’s children, especially those at risk of school failure. To ensure school readiness and positive outcomes for these youngsters, the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) awarded grants to eligible early child care and education sites with the stipulation that the funds be spent in areas thought to link to quality outcomes.
Abt conducted a study for EEC to learn how grantees used the funds and the degree to which these funds influenced the quality of services to preschool children. Abt’s findings provided EEC with vital information about delivering high-quality early education to children, including those at risk.
