Abt Associates: Bold thinkers driving real-world impact
Abt Associates designed a national evaluation of the Social Innovation Fund (SIF) in 2011-2012, a grant program that has awarded funds to help implement programs in three areas: economic opportunity, youth development, and healthy futures. The fund is administered by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the federal agency that also oversees AmeriCorps and Senior Corps.
The corporation uses high-capacity national non-profits as intermediaries to strengthen the abilities of local non-profits that provide services directly to low-income people and their communities, who receive SIF sub-grants to measure the program outcomes and impacts and expand successful program models. Abt’s project director for this evaluation design was Jill Khadduri.
