For more than 30 years, Abt Associates has contributed to the global HIV and AIDS response both at home and abroad. Abt’s International Health team has implemented projects and programs designed to expand access to HIV testing and treatment, strengthen health systems to provide quality services, harness the private sector to complement the public sector, and help governments set priorities and make sustainable decisions on their HIV and AIDS response.
Abt partners with national governments, civil society organizations, bilateral and multilateral development partners, and the private health sector to strengthen HIV and AIDS prevention, testing, treatment and care services worldwide. We have helped develop and cost national HIV and AIDS strategies to support governments and other stakeholders in prioritizing challenges, to enhance HIV and AIDS resource utilization, and make health systems more efficient at delivering care to people with HIV and AIDS.
For example, in collaboration with USAID’s Office of HIV and AIDS, missions, and country partners, the Health Finance and Governance Project
supports partner countries to lead, manage, coordinate, and increasingly finance the efforts needed to achieve an AIDS-free generation, and meet the new mandates of the global HIV community like the 90-90-90 goals
Also, the Abt-led, USAID-funded Private Health Sector Program (PHSP) in Ethiopia
worked with employers to increase awareness of HIV and AIDS, reduce stigma, and increase detection through a mobile, on-site testing program. Abt, a partner on CHASS, strengthened key district health system functions that are essential for effective service delivery: governance and planning; finance; human resources; and logistics and supply chain management.
