Abt Associates offering TRI Training —
Learn what’s new this year...

Abt Associates has been the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s primary EPCRA Section 313 - Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) Training support firm since 2002. While EPA headquarters decided not to continue providing live TRI training classes; Abt Associates’ experienced TRI trainers continue to provide TRI training directly to facilities via web-based workshops (webinars). In addition, Abt Associates continues to work with EPA to develop the official TRI training materials for the 2011 TRI reporting year and will use these materials in our training workshops.

Web-based TRI Training Workshops

As in previous years, these web-based workshops feature live trainers presenting the official EPA training slides. Audio is provided via telephone or VOIP. Class size is limited to more easily allow participants to ask questions of the instructors. There are two training modules – Basic Concepts and Advanced Concepts – each approximately 3 hours in length. Last year many sessions were sold out, so register early for one or more of the training sessions. The price for each workshop is $130.

  • » TRI Basic Concepts Course Information and Slides
    The three hour Basic Concepts Module is aimed at individuals unfamiliar with the TRI program and those needing a refresher on the basic requirements. It will help you understand:

    -- If your facility must submit a report
    -- How to make release and other waste management estimates, including example calculations
    -- When the Form A certification statement can be used in lieu of the Form R
    -- TRI reporting exemptions (when TRI chemicals do not need to be reported), and
    -- New requirements for this year

  • » TRI Advanced Concepts Course Information and Slides
    The three hour Advanced Concepts Module is aimed at individuals familiar with the TRI program and who already know that their facility must report to TRI. It will help you understand:

    -- New requirements for this year
    -- Advanced issues related to threshold determinations, TRI reporting, and exemptions
    -- Chemicals with special TRI reporting requirements (such as lead, mercury, hydrochloric and sulfuric acid aerosols, metal compounds, and nitrate compounds)
    -- How to use the TRI-MEweb online reporting application to submit TRI forms electronically.
