In this discussion, sponsored by Abt’s employee networking group Black@Abt, Dr. Yvette Cozier will discuss results highlighted in her study, “The Black Women’s Health Study (BWHS), a prospective follow-up begun in 1995.”  The talk will focus on study results, particularly associated with the mechanistic pathways through which coping affects health and perceptions of stress among African American women.  


Dr. Yvette Cozier 

Dr. Yvette Cozier is an Associate Professor of Epidemiology, and the Associate Dean of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice at Boston University School of Public Health.  She is also a Senior Epidemiologist at the Slone Epidemiology Center at Boston University School of Medicine where she is MPI for the Black Women’s Health Study (BWHS), a prospective follow-up of over 59,000 African American women begun in 1995. As a social epidemiologist, Dr. Cozier’s overall research focuses on the influence of psychosocial and structural factors - including racism and neighborhood socioeconomic status (SES) – on health.
