Webinar 4/6: CEADIR Series: Financing Opportunities to Diversify Central American Energy Markets

Thursday, April 6, 2017 10:00 am - 11:00 am

The Climate Economic Analysis for Development, Investment and Resilience (CEADIR) project is hosting a webinar as part of a series entitled, Navigating the Climate Economy: Investing for Growth and Resilience. CEADIR helps governments, USAID missions, and the private sector shift to low-emission, sustainable and climate-resilient development by bringing together rigorous economic analysis and scaling up public-private financial assistance.

This month's discussion will focus on "Financing Opportunities to Diversify Central American Energy Markets." Commercial lending opportunities for clean energy in Honduras, El Salvador, and Guatemala are estimated at US$686 million per year, according to CEADIR market assessments. Recently, local commercial banks have begun expanding clean energy financing by developing new financial products, targeting their existing clients first and gradually expanding outreach to new clients. Speakers will highlight challenges and opportunities for commercial banks as they get more involved in the process.

The discussion moderator will be Abt's Santiago Enriquez, the Activity Manager for CEADIR's clean energy support in Central America.

When: April 6, 2017, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
