Peering Through the Looking Glass With A Multicultural Lens: the Challenge of Translational Research .

Michael Lόpez.

Article

January 1, 2013
Child development expert Dr. Michael Lόpez writes about the importance of supporting the language development of culturally and linguistically diverse children.  He also underscores the importance for both researchers and practitioners to (1) carefully understand and examine the sociological contexts of the children and their families and (2) engage in theoretically-driven approaches to the adaptation and implementation of existing research-based strategies for use with diverse populations.  Lόpez expounds upon this view in his commentary of “Multilingual Children: Beyond Myths and Towards Best Practices” in the Society for Research in Child Development’s  January 2013 Social Policy Report.
