Clinic-based cohort studies have found that antiretroviral therapy (ART) leads to an increase in BMI. The aim of this study is to determine whether the scale-up of ART is also associated with a population-level increase in BMI, blood pressure (BP), and prevalence of obesity and hypertension in a high HIV-prevalence (29% of adults HIV-infected) population in rural South Africa.
