Immunization and the Role of the Private Sector: Benin

Report

July 1, 2018

Abt’s analysis of the role of the private sector in Benin’s immunization services reveals that 8 percent of vaccinations are provided through the private sector. Given the importance of the sector’s contribution, the study recommends that the government:

  • Work more closely with the private sector to ensure adequate training and quality of services.
  • Investigate whether user fees being charged by certain providers are a disincentive to vaccination.

This report and the underlying study have been supported by a grant secured from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
