A rigorous evaluation examined the difference in employment and public assistance benefit receipt of two job search assistance programs for cash assistance applicants in New York City: one required a daily attendance requirement at the program office and the other required attendance once a week.  The study did not find a difference in employment or earning levels, but the more rigorous program decreased the receipt of cash and food assistance benefits.
