In October 2008 the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) awarded a grant to Abt Associates Inc. to conduct a study, entitled A National Assessment of Sex Trafficking Demand Reduction Efforts, intended to fill these gaps. The project was designed to develop a descriptive overview of antidemand tactics employed throughout the United States and to provide practitioners with actionable information to assist them in starting, improving, or sustaining initiatives. To share what has been learned, the project has generated several key products, one of which is the present report, A National Overview of Prostitution and Sex Trafficking Demand Reduction Efforts, which summarizes the research activities and presents findings.
