A Profile of Maine's Older Population and Housing Stock
Report
February 18, 2015
The Maine Affordable Housing Coalition contracted with Abt Associates to analyze U.S. Census Bureau data and prepare a report on Maine’s older population and existing housing stock. The goals of the analysis were to describe the socio-economic characteristics of older people in Maine, to describe the quality and affordability of the available housing stock, and to help plan for the future housing needs of an aging population.
The report’s analysis of Maine’s population and housing will be used to inform an existing legislative effort advocating for the use of a general obligation bond to fund development of affordable senior housing across the state.
