Abt Leads First Rigorous Nationwide Evaluation of Career Pathways

Abt Associates is conducting a random assignment evaluation of promising strategies that promote employment and self-sufficiency for economically disadvantaged families. This nine-site study, funded by the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is focused on innovative career pathways systems that provide articulated educational steps, instructional and personal supports, and connections to employment. This ten-year study, funded in 2007, is the first rigorous evaluation of pathways strategies nationwide. The findings will provide valuable information about the effects on educational, economic, and other outcomes. The study also will examine system implementation and costs.
