Enterprise Data Analytics Management and Maturing Execution

Highlights

  • CMS generates and needs continuous insights from enormous amounts of data to deliver efficient, quality benefits for 130 million Americans.
  • Abt will modernize the agency’s data analytics through dashboards and data visualizations
  • We will produce a suite of new or enhanced analytical tools and visualizations to address CMS’ key business questions and help decision makers meet target outcomes.
The Challenge

As the single largest payer for health care in the United States, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) collects massive amounts of data. CMS has over 6,000 employees nationwide responsible for programs that provide insurance coverage to more than 130 million people through Medicare, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and the Health Insurance Marketplace. As a complex organization with an immense role in U.S. health care, CMS needs to identify and implement strategies to improve efficiency, quality, value, and outcomes for beneficiaries, providers, and other stakeholders—but storing, analyzing, and internally using the information it collects has historically been a challenge for the agency.

The Approach

In partnership with Rios Partners, Abt will apply its decades-long understanding of CMS’ data journey and work with the agency to modernize its data analytics. By centralizing and leveraging data, CMS will be better able to make informed and timely decisions, reduce risk, eliminate manual analytical interventions, and optimize resources.

Using Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Tableau, Abt will further digital transformation at CMS by designing and launching dashboards and reporting systems that improve data flows, automation, and analytical processes.

The Results

The result will be a suite of new or enhanced analytical tools and visualizations to address CMS’ key business questions and help decision makers meet target outcomes.
