The Challenge

In a recent rebrand of their product labeling program, EPA unveiled the new name and logo for the Safer Choice Program. The Safer Choice Program helps consumers, businesses, and purchasers find products that perform and are safer for human health and the environment. Abt was tasked with answering the question “How do you find cleaning products that are safer for your family, pets, and the environment?”

The Approach

Abt provides comprehensive communications support to the Safer Choice Program, including research and planning, web design and development, materials development, and digital outreach. Our digital materials are targeted to consumers to help inform decision-making in households and we use social media to remind audiences that tools and resources are available through the program website. We managed the full spectrum of pre-event promotion and onsite logistics and partner outreach for Safer Choice conferences and trade shows, including its Partner of the Year Awards.

The Results

Since the launch of the new brand, consumer website, and partner outreach activities, more consumers have access to over 2,000 products that qualify to carry the EPA’s new Safer Choice Label to make informed choices. Through its Award Program, EPA announced 33 winners across 17 states and the District of Columbia for outstanding achievement in the design, manufacture, promotion, and use of Safer Choice-labeled products over the past year.
