Examining Present and Potential Contamination near the Pueblo de San Ildefonso

Abt Global is conducting contaminant fate and transport analyses for the Pueblo de San Ildefonso. The Pueblo is located immediately downstream of the Los Alamos National Laboratory, a federal nuclear facility located in New Mexico.

Abt staff, working for the Pueblo, are analyzing and interpreting environmental site data and models to evaluate present and potential future contaminant pathways from the Los Alamos facility towards the Pueblo. This work includes evaluating fate and transport in groundwater, surface water, and sediment pathways. In particular, we are assessing the potential impacts of climate change on the transport of contaminants such as metals, organchlorines and radionuclides, including the effects of large events such as floods and forest fires.
