Qualitative Inquiry Methods to Understand Issues in HIV Prevention, Care, and Treatment in the U.S.
Undiagnosed and untreated HIV infections remain critical challenges in efforts to address the HIV epidemic in the United States. HIV care providers play an important role in improving health outcomes of HIV-positive patients at all stages of the continuum of care. Abt Associates, in partnership with Atlas Research, is conducting qualitative research with primary care doctors and healthcare professionals to better understand the issues experienced in providing HIV care and treatment to populations at greatest risk for HIV, including men who have sex with men, young persons, and racial and ethnic minorities. This research will help the CDC to identify new opportunities for intervention and inform new strategies to improve HIV prevention, care, and treatment outcomes.
