Supporting a National Implementation Effort to Reduce Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) in Long-term Care Facilities
Abt Global is supporting a study led by the Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET) which is assisting nursing homes as they adopt practices that aim to reduce and ultimately eliminate catheter-associated urinary tract infection (CAUTI) in their facilities. The study, funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), has recruited and trained nursing home staff from 532 facilities across 47 states.
Since 2013, an Abt team of clinical nurse researchers have developed educational modules for and providing coaching to participating facilities, and served as “faculty” on national calls and webinars, and at local or regional in-person meetings and training events. The team also contributed to the development of the training program’s overall curriculum and measurement protocols, and is currently supporting HRET as it works to measure program impact.
