USAID’s Health Accounts Production Tool
- How do countries manage resources and funding to create stronger, more efficient health systems?
- Abt developed an introduction to USAID's HAPT tool, which helps in-country teams boost local capacity.
- More than 72 countries and are using the HAPT tool to increase efficiencies among in-country teams.
Countries are faced with a scarcity of resources. Donor funding is declining. Growing populations burden the health system. Shifting disease burdens stress the system. In addition, countries lack timely and accurate information to help them adapt and keep pace with these changes. How do countries track, manage, and mobilize resources and funding to create stronger, more efficient health systems?
Abt developed a script and storyboard to introduce USAID’s Health Accounts Production Tool (HAPT), which helps in-country teams boost local capacity and reduce reliance on technical assistance. We produced a video tutorial for Health Accounts teams that provides step-by-step guidance on how to leverage health accounts to systematically improve the health system.
Since the HAPT tool launched, countries have been able to streamline data collection and analysis, simplify data management, make cross-country comparisons easier, standardizes processes—ultimately saving time and costs. According to WHO, over 72 countries have conducted Health Accounts in the past 6 years and are utilizing the HAPT tool to increase efficiencies among in-country teams.
