What Works To Reduce Teen Pregnancy


How do we help teenagers avoid unintended pregnancies and improve their health and well-being? Abt Global continues to lead the research, analysis and evaluation that is helping to shape the programs, policies and services on which teens rely. Selected Projects Replication Studies Abt conducted an evaluation of school- and community-based teen pregnancy prevention programs for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Meta-Analysis
A randomized control trial offers sound evidence on what works. But Abt is taking that evidence and advancing it through a meta-analysis project of adolescent risk taking behavior programs. Among central questions are what kinds of services are effective and for whom do they work best?

Teen Outreach Program Evaluation
Abt is using an experimental evaluation design to determine the effect of of Hennepin County’s Teen Outreach Program (TOP) on reducing sexual risk-taking behaviors among middle- and high-school aged teens in the program. Learn more

Teen Peer Education Program Evaluation
Can a school-based peer education program reduce sexual risk-taking behaviors among high school youth? Abt led an implementation study of the Teen Prevention Education Program (PEP) in North Carolina to assess the effects on youth 15-19 years old. Learn more

Communities Empowering Youth Evaluation
The Communities Empowering Youth (CEY) program was created to address the capacity building needs of partnerships of nonprofit organizations that were tackling issues of gang violence, youth violence or child abuse and neglect. Abt led a longitudinal evaluation to assess to what extent organizational and partnership capacity increased, and how outcomes varied.
