Abt to Continue Expanding Tanzania's Health and Education Services Through $49.6M Award From USAID

Rockville, Md. – USAID has awarded Abt Global a $49.6 million, five-year contract to continue improving Tanzania’s health and education services under the Public Sector Systems Strengthening Plus (PS3+) project. Abt will expand the transformational cross-sector systems strengthening strategy we initiated through USAID’s predecessor program, PS3. Through that program, Abt has supported over 24,000 health facilities and schools as they’ve improved the quality, delivery, and use of public services, particularly for the underserved.

In partnership with the Government of Tanzania, PS3+ will strengthen and reinforce the gains made under PS3. PS3+ will continue to shift systems, money, and workforce support to the local level; promote the delivery of quality, responsive, and transparent essential services; involve new sectors; and institutionalize change. These efforts will entail leveraging digital resources to facilitate data analysis across systems and sectors, enabling decisionmaking that’s responsive to the needs of citizens, including women and youth.
