Abt Wins Opportunity to Improve Patient-Centered Health Care on AHRQ Contract
Rockville, Md. – Abt Associates has been selected by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to participate in a research network known as Accelerating Change and Transformation in Organizations and Networks (ACTION 4). Abt is one of only 14 contractors who can compete for up to $75 million in awards over five years. This opportunity gives Abt the ability to bid on projects that will identify how health system decisionmakers and policymakers can make systemic, patient-centered improvements to healthcare.
ACTION 4 is an extension of work Abt performed under AHRQ’s ACTION I through III contracts. As with those previous contracts, ACTION 4 will include field-based, real world-informed development, testing and implementation of new approaches for improving health care safety and quality. Through ACTION 4, Abt will have opportunities to:
- Develop new ways for AHRQ to use knowledge and data to support continuous improvement in clinical care and care delivery.
- Advance data-driven approaches for population health management and delivery of patient-centered care.
- Support the evolution of a value-based health care system that pays for outcomes, rewards efficiency, focuses on prevention of disease before it occurs, and empowers consumers, providers, and purchasers through improved transparency around price and quality.
“Abt’s experience providing rigorous field-based research and practice-informed strategies, and leveraging data to improve care, has made our projects with AHRQ very successful,” said Sarah Shoemaker-Hunt, Ph.D., Pharm.D., Abt’s AHRQ ACTION 4 IDIQ Principal Investigator. “Through ACTION 4, we look forward to continuing our relationship with AHRQ and creating additional improvements in clinical care and care delivery.”
