Rockville, Md. – The Bureau of Justice Statistics’ (BJS) has awarded Abt Associates $3.3 million to run the Federal Justice Statistics Program (FJSP) for three years. The FJSP is the premier source of data and statistics on people involved in the federal justice system.
“Abt has been the FJSP contractor for BJS for nearly a decade, and this award enables us to continue our important work for BJS,” said Program Director Chris Cutler. FJSP is one of several awards in Abt’s BJS portfolio, which includes the National Corrections Reporting Program, the Survey of Prison Inmates Statistical Support Center, the Survey of Inmates in Local Jails, and the Statistical Support Program.
The FJSP compiles statistical information on defendants processed at all stages of the federal criminal justice system and serves as the national clearinghouse of administrative federal criminal case processing data. Under this program, Abt standardizes administrative data from seven federal justice agencies each year and maintains, links, analyzes, and archives the data. The standardized data represent annual cohorts of persons processed from arrest to prosecution, through pretrial release, adjudication, sentencing, appeals, and corrections. The FJSP enables analysts from Abt and other organizations to link these records to track cases as they move through the federal criminal justice system.
