Development Economist Dr. Nicole Goldin Joins Abt as Global Head of Inclusive Economic Growth

Rockville, Md.  –  Dr. Nicole Goldin is joining Abt Associates as the Global Head of Inclusive Economic Growth. Dr. Goldin brings 25 years of experience in strategic and technical management, policy, research, communications and collaboration in global and local economics, development, human capital, social impact and foreign affairs across public, private, philanthropic, civil society, and academic sectors. She is especially well-known for her work championing youth and inclusive and sustainable growth and gender equity, all areas in which she’ll work with Abt clients; including USAID, where she served as the agency’s lead on youth and contributed to its policies and initiatives on economic growth, demographic dividend, resilience, evaluation, gender, and urban systems delivery.

“Nicole has demonstrated an astoundingly broad commitment to equity and inclusive growth, two challenges at the heart of Abt’s mission,” said Abt Senior Vice President, International Development, Eric J. Reading. “Her insight and experience will be invaluable to Abt, our clients, and the people we serve.”

Since her time at USAID, Dr. Goldin has maintained a public thought leadership profile as a Director at CSIS, Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, and adjunct faculty at George Washington University. Dr. Goldin has also consulted with a wide range of organizations, particularly the World Bank on youth employment, workforce development and economic mobility issues, UNICEF, and FHI360.

Prior to working at USAID and the State Department, Dr. Goldin was in private sector capital markets as a senior research manager on emerging markets for institutional investor clients for GLG, and previously in business development, program management, and field implementation roles at the IFES and Chemonics.

She holds a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Union College, an M.A. in International Affairs from American University, an MSc in Development Studies from London School of Economics, and a Ph.D. in Development Economics from SOAS University of London.
