Laura R. Peck, Internationally Recognized Policy Evaluator, Elected APPAM Secretary

Rockville, Md.  –  Abt Associates announced that Laura R. Peck, principal scientist, has been elected secretary of the Association for Public Policy, Analysis & Management, known as APPAM. Peck is an internationally known policy evaluation methodologist. At Abt, she applies her expertise to the evaluation of policies and programs areas that include welfare, housing, education, income security, and employment.
A former tenured associate professor at Arizona State University, Peck is an innovative thinker, focused on fresh ways to more precisely estimate program impacts in both experimental and quasi-experimental evaluations. Beyond her project and thought leadership, she also serves as the Global Lead of Abt’s Research, Monitoring & Evaluation Capability Center, where she brings a cross-cutting perspective to ensuring Abt’s work in that portfolio is high-quality and efficient. Peck also works with colleagues to support their success in publishing in peer-reviewed journals to contribute to scholarly discourse.

She has served on APPAM’s policy council, and is currently Editor for the American Journal of Evaluation’s Experimental Methodology Section. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and is the author of Experimental Evaluation Design for Program Improvement (SAGE Publications).  Peck holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from New York University.
