Principal Associate and Senior Climate Change and Development Economist, International Development

Glen Anderson supports adaptation assessment and planning for Abt’s Climate-Smart Development practice. He works at the local, national and global levels to help assess the risks of climate change and the benefits and costs of adaptation measures.

Anderson has more than three decades of experience in international development, climate change, environmental and natural resources policy and financing, and water resources management.

Before joining Abt, Anderson served as chief of party for the International Resources Group (IRG) on USAID’s Climate Change Resilient Development Project (CCRD), a four-year initiative to support the agency’s Global Climate Change Office. The project’s climate adaptation-focused programs operated in 33 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Southern Europe, and Latin America and the Caribbean.

Before CCRD, he led IRG’s Climate Change practice, served as a senior environmental policy advisor, and wrote winning proposals on climate change adaptation, energy efficiency, water policy and watershed management, and tourism projects.

Anderson has published 12 journal articles and contributed to six books as co-author, lead editor or chapter author. He currently serves on the editorial board for the journal Climate Services and is a member of the advisory panel for the Research Applications Laboratory at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder.
