Director of Climate Finance

Bueno is a Climate and Impact Finance Expert with nearly 15 years of experience, including the design and execution of finance products and vehicles. As an investment professional, Manuel has experience across a broad range of sectors, including agribusiness, forestry, fisheries, and manufacturing, and across several countries in Latin America, West Africa, and Southeast Asia. Prior to joining Abt, Bueno was a founding partner of a coastal fisheries impact fund, and of a financial intermediary for corporate sustainable debt products.

As the Director of Climate Finance, Bueno leads Abt’s Climate Finance practice, including strategy and business development, project execution, and thought leadership. In this role, Bueno designs and executes climate finance solutions with Abt’s public and private sector client portfolio in the U.S. and internationally, and across the organization’s climate and energy, agriculture and economic growth, and health teams.

Before joining Abt, Bueno was Director of Innovative Finance at Resonance, a development consulting firm where he led the company’s offering to finance sustainable natural resource management and economic growth for public and private clients. Prior to that he was a founding partner of Greensquare Ventures, a financial intermediary for corporate sustainable debt products. Bueno was also founding partner of the Meloy Fund, a coastal fisheries impact fund, where he led the fund structuring and fundraising, investment strategy, product development, and the drafting of all investment and operations processes. Notably, Bueno also structured the fund’s debt portfolio guarantee with the USAID Development Credit Authority (now under U.S. International Development Finance Corporation), which won its 2017 Deal of the Year Award.
