TOR: Facilitate WASH market actors to promote and supply safe drinking water, improved sanitation, hygiene solutions in selected districts
The Feed the Future Bangladesh Nutrition Activity (BNA) is a USAID-funded project implemented by Abt Global. BNA contributes to improvements in nutrition outcomes of household members, with an emphasis on children under the age of five, pregnant and lactating women, and adolescents (girls and boys) in the country’s Feed the Future (FTF) zone of influence (ZOI) and the Zone of Resilience (ZOR). Three results underwrite this goal: 1) consumption of nutritious, diverse, safe, and balanced diets by households; 2) social and economic empowerment of women and social empowerment of adolescents; and 3) adoption of improved water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) practices. We integrate a strong focus on gender equality and social inclusion (GESI) across all three of these result areas.
We apply a combination of Market Systems Development (MSD) and Social Behavior Change (SBC) approaches to achieve our goals. These approaches facilitate collaboration among various market actors, including public sector entities, private companies, rural businesses, and others. By working together, these stakeholders promote the consumption of balanced, nutritious, and diverse diets, empower women and adolescents and improve access to safe water, improved sanitation facilities, hygiene products and services for the target beneficiaries. This ToR pertains to market systems for Result 3 (WASH) within the context of BNA. The primary objective of this ToR is to engage a sub-awardee who can provide comprehensive support to BNA in facilitating and strengthening WASH market systems by promoting the adoption of enhanced water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions and behaviors among the targeted beneficiaries. The selected sub-awardee will work closely in collaboration with BNA. The scope of work includes developing strategy based on the analysis of market constraints and designing and implementing sustainable interventions that continue to benefit the communities even after the project concludes.
