Abt Global is a proud sponsor of the 2021 DHIS2 Symposium, an event that highlights creative uses of District Health Information Software (DHIS) 2 to solve common challenges in collecting, managing, visualizing, and using data. Today, DHIS2 is the world’s largest health management information system (HMIS) platform, in use by 73 low- and middle-income countries. This year’s theme is “digitally healing societies together.”

This year, thanks to the generous support of the sponsors, general admission to the Symposium is free.

Abt staff will participate in the following activities:

September 28 | 2:30 –3:15 p.m.
Global Alignment across DHIS2-based Systems for Integrated Vector Control Data Use
Nearly half of the world’s population lives in areas at risk of malaria transmission, and data from entomological field surveillance are critical to inform key malaria control decisions. The World Health Organization (WHO) Global Malaria Programme (GMP) and the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative’s (PMI) VectorLink project have closely collaborated to align overall approaches to entomological data management through comprehensive DHIS2 modules that can be used to transform complex entomological data into actionable decisions. This session will provide an overview of the DHIS2 modules, highlight key analytics for entomological data, and share insights from this unique global partnership.
Presenters: Marianne Henry, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Specialist, VectorLink Project, Abt Global; Lucia Montoya, GMP/Vector Control and Insecticide Resistance, WHO

The Many Ways to Slice a (Juicy Historical Data) Pie: Exploring and Comparing 4 Tools to Import Historical Data
DHIS2 and the community have developed numerous, overlapping solutions for migrating legacy data into a new DHIS2 instance. These include the native API and Import/Export tool, Bulk Load (EyeSeeTea), dAtaZ (BAO Systems Data Importer), and BIF (BAO Systems Import Foundry). For an agriculture project in Egypt, an Abt Global team discovered both advantages and gaps related to each of these tools, and they ultimately achieved success by combining products and approaches. This process and tool analysis will be shared during the session, along with lessons learned.
Presenters: Tony Iha, Lead DHIS2 Solutions Architect and Branden Kornell, Enterprise Business Intelligence Lead, Abt Global
