Expanding Our Impact

Tanzania has had one of the faster-growing economies in Sub-Saharan Africa in recent years – with agriculture as a key sector – but many people still live in poverty and suffer from malnutrition.
Abt Associates' work in Tanzania, which began in the 1980s, has addressed nutrition, health and other needs, including:

  • Financing and delivering health services;
  • Protecting millions of people from malaria;
  • Expanding private sector treatment for HIV and AIDS; and
  • Promoting more effective and accountable government at all levels.
Abt-led projects, working in 23 of Tanzania’s 31 regions, have strengthened health financing, service delivery methods, and other parts of the health system while also advancing improvements in food security and agriculture.
