With extreme weather and high carbon emissions, the Philippines is extremely vulnerable to climate change. Abt’s work supports the development and implementation of policies that accelerate climate-resilient growth, both economically and within communities. Abt led development of USAID’s climate-resilient development framework and conducted a case study on water security and climate change in the Philippines that provided a model for implementing the framework globally. Through the USAID-funded B-LEADERS and AILEG projects, Abt focused on lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, training local leaders in climate change analysis and providing technical assistance in institutionalizing a GHG inventory process. Abt also supports gender equality efforts in Southeast Asia through the Investing in Women initiative, which aims to accelerate women’s economic empowerment, help investors consider gender in their investment process and close the financing gap for women.
