Afghanistan

Expanding Our Impact
Afghanistan’s health systems need proper resources for mothers, newborns and children. Insufficient internal capacity in the private sector has led to shortages in safe drinking water, fewer women seeking proper antenatal care and a lack of trained professionals in health facilities. Abt helps local organizations in order to strengthen the country’s health systems. For example, our Health Systems 20/20 project helped develop a health financing strategy. Our work on USAID’s SHOPS Plus project provides treatments for childhood diarrhea, expecting mothers and water sanitation.
