Building Strong Communities
Nigeria – which has the largest economy and population in Africa – faces significant security and governance challenges. However, the country took a huge step forward in 2014 when federal lawmakers enacted the National Health Bill – supported by the Abt Associates-led PATHS2 project – which provides a framework for the regulation, development and management of a national health system. Ongoing Abt-led projects in Nigeria also are working on reducing the prevalence of malaria, improving health system financing, expanding regional trade, and supporting low-emission development, among other work.
