8 steps of design and implementation

Abt Global, the external evaluator for the $122 million, multi-donor AgResults initiative, recently examined the use of pull mechanisms to catalyze greater private sector investment in markets serving smallholder farmers, using as a case study AgResults’ Kenya On-Farm Storage pilot.

Pull mechanisms require a solid understanding of the market and the motivations of the private sector. The paper identifies key steps in developing pull mechanisms and recommends ongoing monitoring and evaluation to allow for ongoing (and essential) adjustments. The accompanying graphic identifies necessary steps.
