Evaluating Pathways for Advancing Careers and Education (PACE)

Abt Associates is conducting a random assignment evaluation of promising strategies that promote employment and self-sufficiency for economically disadvantaged families. The nine-site study, funded by the Administration for Children and Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, is called Pathways for Advancing Careers and Education (PACE). The study is focused on career pathways systems that provide articulated educational steps, instructional and personal supports, and connections to employment.

This is the first rigorous evaluation of pathways strategies nationwide. The findings will provide valuable information about the effects on educational, economic, and other outcomes. The study also will examine system implementation and costs.
