Vice President, Global Development Delivery Practice

Mariandrea Chamorro has more than 16 years of experience managing international development programs through private consulting firms and the U.S. Government. She is a seasoned program leader for Africa and Latin America-based U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) projects. She has led client relations with USAID/President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), led development of contractual deliverables, ensured compliance with U.S. government regulations, and oversaw financial management of projects. Chamorro’s areas of expertise include prevention of vector-borne diseases, infectious diseases, maternal and child health, and health systems strengthening.

Chamorro oversees Abt’s programs in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. She provides overall leadership, management, strategy, and vision for the assigned regional management unit with a portfolio of more than $35 million in annual revenue and a two-year pipeline valued at more than $250 million. Chamorro leads and oversees development and implementation of a regional strategy and is responsible for the unit’s financial management. She ensures successful implementation and client satisfaction on existing programs and provides quality assurance to business development efforts in the region.

Before assuming her current post, Chamorro was the deputy project director for PMI VectorLink, a $741 million project working in 25 countries in Africa, Cambodia, and Colombia to decrease the burden of malaria through vector control. She provided oversight and leadership to the Operations and Procurement and Logistics teams, and she managed the project’s 10 international partners. Chamorro provided senior-level management expertise and vision and served as a liaison to all Abt corporate departments. Under VectorLink’s predecessor project, PMI Africa Indoor Residual Spraying (AIRS), Chamorro managed malaria prevention programs in seven African countries.

She previously worked for the Millennium Challenge Corporation on Cape Verde and Mozambique compacts. She also worked for Chemonics International in the Latin America and Caribbean division and the International Health group, managing USAID-funded economic growth projects in Peru and Bolivia.
